Nissans oldest to newest electric

Many people don't know that Nissan has been making EV's for much longer than any other brand. In fact, their first electric model named the Tama, first debuted about 70 years ago. It was created as a solution to low oil and gas supplies following WWII. The Tama had a 4.5-hp (3.3 kW) electric motor and a 40-volt lead-acid battery. It was capable of a top speed of 21 mph (35 km/h) and had a range of 40 miles (65 km). Remember that those figures we're very impressive back in ’47.

If they could install a rechargeable battery pack into the Tama electric vehicle prototype and I had the funds to buy one, I'd be first in line. A top speed of 35 km/h will irritate every other driver on the roads, but it'll be worth it to drive an old heritage car.

It's pretty incredible that they had an electric car back in 40's, even with those specs. There aren't many manufacturer's who've been involved with this technology for that length of time. Just another reason why Nissan continues to lead the EV segment.

Their technology sure has come a long way, and the standard drive assist features offered in the Leaf, are better than those found in much more expensive models. I think its the entirety of the Leaf package that is helping them to remain a segment leader.
