I don't think there is much that can be done for battery degradation, but on most new EV's it only equates to a few percent a year. As the standard range continues to increase, this should become less of a concern.

Quick charging is the fastest way to decrease the battery life of an EV, so hopefully most new owners buy a proper home system that allows them to charge overnight instead. Unfortunately I don't think the new Leaf is really that capable as a long range vehicle, especially with the throttled charging.

An alternative would be to keep it on charge as often as you can on regular chargers. That should become more of a reality as charging parking spots expand and will by a lot with wireless charging systems.

I've already seen some prototype technology that places a wireless charging pad directly into a roadway. Mind you it wont provide enough electricity to charge a vehicle, it will increase its range by preventing it from pulling from the battery.
