First gen Leaf owner

Hey everyone. I currently own the very first model year Leaf, and thinking it might be time to upgrade. I am a little concerned with all these things I'm seeing online about 'rapidgate', as I've never had that issue in my 8 years of ownership. I have seen a loss in battery life, but that's bound to happen on such an old EV.

I have come to the conclusion that EV's are probably best for short term owners. For example i'm planning to own the new Leaf for no more than 3-4 years, beyond that how the components hold up is questionable.
However if this whole rapidgate this is really a safety measure as they claim then I guess its worth the trade off.

I think all the changes to incentives are going to have an impact on interest in brand new EV's. There are many who have yet to make the switch, and it may make more sense to get something used instead, with a lower initial investment. A home charging kit is also going to set you back another grand or so.

Welcome to the forum! And Nissan is going to have to address these rapid charge issues, because charge times are ending up being far longer than what's being advertised. Fingers crossed that it's something they can fix through the software.

Welcome. That's pretty impressive that 8 years on and your first gen model is still satisfying your needs. How much mileage have you put on it and has the loss of range been substantial?

I bet this will impact allocations because if buyers have more options for charging while on commutes then it almost resolves this issue.
