How the 2018 compares to the previous gen

TFL has uploaded a new video that discusses what's new for the 2018 Leaf, and what Nissan has improved over the previous gen model. One of the weakest aspects of the olden model is definitely its styling, and there is a host of brand new tech/kit for 2018.

I give Nissan credit for designing the older generation with character that actually stood out. This time around its just more of the same, but i'm already sold on many areas unrelated to design.

I would've never bought the previous generation model, looking the way that it does. I was surprised to see how well it did with sales, just on that basis alone. Active safety systems and semi autonomous driving aids are the main focus for 2018.

I don't think that the first generation was that bad, and back when it came out quirky styling was really common for EV's. It has aged pretty poorly however, when you look at the design language for newer electrics and hopefully the styling of the 2nd gen model will help it to retain its value a bit more.

Compared to everything else that was out, it actually looked great. Yeah you could buy a Chevy Volt or a Prius but being Japanese (aka reliable) and arriving at a special time in the market presented a unique opportunity.
