Leaf ad banned over misleading charge times

Nissan has had to make some changes to advertisements on their UK website after several owners complained about inaccurate figures. The website previous said that you could quick charge up to 80% in 40-60 minutes with a footnote saying this time could vary.
However many have come to find that the car can often take longer than 60 minutes to charge and will only accept one fast charge per day. Following a ruling from the Advertising Standards Authority, the site now reads that you can get from 20-80% charge in around 60 minutes.

I wouldn't say that what was shown previously was false advertising, especially with the footnote. They are merely trying to make the new Leaf looking cutting edge in a segment that's becoming more crowded and competitive.

while it does make a lot of sense to me and you, considering what regulations around advertising is like its easy to see how that resulted in what we see here.
personally I think they did the right thing because for some people reading what's in that fine print would be a deal breaker.

Rapid charging has never been one area where the Leaf has excelled, but hopefully these issues will be addressed with the thermal management system they are finally incorporating into the E Plus. For the vast majority of owners, overnight will work just fine.
