It can actually be the opposite with electric vehicles. On the highway, where aerodynamics make a big difference , its really important stay as close as possible to the speed limit. For every 10 mph of speed over the posted limit, it roughly costs you 10 percent of efficiency. So unless you're one to stay in the right lane for the entire duration of your trip, the cars range is going to take a hit. Driving style is a huge factor in these cars.

The Leaf looks pretty aerodynamic to me, though no matter how smooth it looks there's still going to be aerodynamic drag. There's also regenerative braking to take into consideration, which doesn't occur when travelling at speed for a prolonged period of time. It's all about changing up your driving habits when driving an EV, or mapping out as many chargers along the way as possible.
