Macklin Motors Nissan event

With the huge success that the Leaf has seen overseas, dealers are continuing to offer big incentives for new buyers. Macklin Motors in Glasgow has announced a special Golden Ticket discount event that will run from today until Sept 17th. These tickets will be placed inside new and used cars at Macklin's two Nissan sites, which will reveal a further discount of up to Ł1000. With sales being a bit behind in North American, Nissan dealers here should consider some similar initiatives.

You would think that dealers in the U.S would be the ones offering these kinds of incentives, since sales have actually started to dip a bit. With government incentives going away, these kinds of discounts from dealers are going to have to become more common.

All Nissan might need is time for the rest of the market to pick up. Naturally with more interest comes more sales. Its the simple demand model that goes on in any industry.

North Americans are also far more prone to range anxiety, and that issue has been largely exaggerated here. Nissan has taken that into account with the upcoming long range variant however, so we should see sales start to pick back up once that model releases.

The electric infrastructure in North America, is also a good bit behind the coverage that's seen in Europe. While there are some states that are far more comparable, until we see a rapid charger at every fill up station, people will still be hesitant about switching over.

Depending the length of your commute, I'm sure that most people will be able to simply charge up at home. It's really only on longer road trips where a proper network will come in to play. Most people are buying an EV as a secondary car anyways.

Not true one bit. If that was the case then we wouldn't see EV sales take off like how they have already. There are greater issues holding people back than where to charge.

The ability to charge at home and have enough range for an average day is already an incentive.

The adoption rates for EV's aren't nearly as high in North America as they are overseas. If you need prove that infrastructure is still a key barrier then here ya go. https://insideevs.com/poll-suggests-...ing-deterrent/
